Bio
Irene C. Brase, 97 of Bellwood, Nebraska, died Saturday, October 23, 2010, at the St. Joseph's Villa in David City, Nebraska. The funeral service will be Friday, October 29, 10:00 A.M. at the Bellwood United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Schutt officiating. Interment will be in the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Friday from 9:00 - 10:00 A.M. at the church with a family prayer service at 9:45 A.M. Memorials may be directed to the Bellwood United Methodist Church. Irene Brase was born June 11, 1913, in Butler County, Nebraska, to Frank and Anna (Siedle) Bock. She attended District 7 school in Bellwood. On December 22, 1931, Irene married Fred Brase in Bellwood. They farmed near Bellwood their entire lives until moving into Bellwood in the mid 1970's. Besides being a farmwife, Irene enjoyed gardening and was a member of Harold's Square Dance. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and a enjoyed going to Bible Study. Irene belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary, the Rebekah Lodge, the Over 60's Club, and the Red Hat Club. Irene is survived by: Daughter: Merna (Herb) Detlefsen of Lincoln, NE Daughter: Betty (Jack) Romshek of Bellwood, NE Daughter: Shirley (Don) Griffiths of Columbus, NE 9 Grandchildren 4 Step Grandchildren 27 Great Grandchildren 8 Step Great Grandchildren 1 Step Great Great Grandchild Brother: Roy Bock of Columbus, NE Sister: Velma Hopkins of David City, NE Sister: Margaret Pieters of Bellwood, NE Irene was pre3ceded in death by: Parents: Frank & Anna Bock Husband: Fred Brase in 1980 Infant Son: William Brase 2 Grandchildren: Cindy Didier and Luann Mills 3 Brothers: Harold, Leo, and Frank Bock 2 Sisters: Anna Conrad and Elsie Kruse
