George C. Henderson, 86, of Inverness, FL, died on October 18, 2010, at Citrus Memorial Hospital. George was born on December 24, 1923, in Warren County, KY, the son of the late George and Della Henderson. He was a U.S. Navy veteran during World War II. He moved to Inverness in 1991 from St. Petersburg, FL. George was the owner of Great American Novelty Company. His memberships included the Masonic Lodge #283 in St. Petersburg, the American Legion in Crystal River, the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels and he was a Life Member of the Nature Coast Carving Club. Survivors include his wife, Martha Henderson, of Inverness, FL; four children, Larry Henderson (Connie), of Clearwater, FL, Aubrey Neal Henderson (Janice), of Pueblo, CO, Patricia Dowdy (Donald), of Greensboro, NC, and Bill Henderson, of Inverness, FL; seven grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Henderson will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 21, 2010, at the Heinz Funeral Home in Inverness. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to the hour of service. Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Heinz Funeral Home & Cremation, Inverness, FL.
