James S. Hanks, age 83, of Missouri Valley, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2010, in Council Bluffs, surrounded by his wife, and family. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Patty King; son-in-law, Rodney Johnson; brothers, Earl, Dale, Louis, Walter, Gilbert and Wayne; and sister, Dolsie. James is survived by his wife, Mary, of Missouri Valley, Iowa; daughters, Susan (Dale) Baak, of Holstein, Iowa, Jane (Stan) Hinkel, of Castana, Iowa; son-in-law, Larry (Donna) King, of Missouri Valley, Iowa; grandchildren, Lisa (Randy) Steffen, of Charter Oak, Iowa, Eric Johnson and partner, Mark Parker, of Texas, Scott (Mia) Johnson, of California, Ryan (Keri) King, of Mondamin, Iowa, Kyle (Erin) King, of Ankeny, Iowa, Ben (Reagan) Barry, of Norwalk, Iowa; thirteen great grandchildren, one more due in November; brother, Jerry (Donna) Hanks, Onawa, Iowa; sisters, Etta and Rosella Chasteen, both of Oregon; sisters-in-law, Kathryn Hanks, of Onawa, Iowa, Dorothy Hanks, of Quimby, Joanne Hanks, of Nebraska; many nieces and nephews and friends.
