Published obituary MRS MARY M STAPLETON DIES AT CHILLICOTHE For Years She Was a Resident of Chula Area. Mrs Mary Magdalene Stapleton, 82, died at 6:45 this morning in Chillicothe. Mrs Stapleton was born May 27, 1879, in Creston, Iowa, daughter of Nicholas and Margaret McGann Viertz. In 1902, she was married to Elmer Stapleton. They spent their married life in the Chula community. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs Edna Raney, Englewood, California; Mrs John Hall, Chillicothe; Mrs Alice Feeney, Chillicothe, and Mrs Frances Carroll, Chillicothe, one son, Herman Stapleton, Chula; eight grandchildren and twelve [great] grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs Harry Duree, Woodburn, Iowa, and Mrs Pat Fitzpatrick, Chariton, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother, a sister and one grandchild. She was a member of St John's Catholic Church at Chula and the St Ann Altar Society. Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock Friday morning at St John's church. Burial will be in the Leopolis cemetery.
