Bio
The Osceola Sentinel, Osceola, Iowa November 21, 1929, Page 2 Nicholas Viertz. Nicholas Viertz, son of Mickel and Mary Viertz, was born in Lorraine, France, October 13, 1850, and departed this life November 12, 1929, aged 79 years and one month. He was united in marriage to Margaret McCann January 31, 1878, and to this union was born five children, four girls and one boy--Mrs. Elmer Stapleton of Chula, Mo., Mrs. Roy Davenport, Mrs. P. V. Fitzpatrick and Mrs. Harry Duree all of Woodburn, and M. W. Viertz of Lucas, all of whom survive him. Besides he leaves twenty-five grandchildren and five great grandchildren, besides other relatives and friends. He had been in poor health for the last two years, and during his last illness wished God would take him, as he was just willing to be called to go. Funeral was held at Woodburn Thursday, October 14, at 10:30 a.m. and the remains laid to rest in St. Marys cemetery. Transcribed as published by Karen Brewer.
