Bio
Thelma R. Mayes, 53, of 708 Dixon in Borger, died at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Golden Plains Community Hospital. A housewife, she was a native of Wise County and a Borger resident since 1945. She was a member of the Eternal Light Pentecostal Church, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Arthritis Foundation. She is survived by one son, Robert C. Mayes of Borger; her mother, Hazel Barclay of Borger; and one brother, Joe Barclay of Borger. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1976. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at the Eternal Light Pentecostal Church with Rev. Elvis Peck, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors. The family will be staying at 311 E. Sixth St. Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
