The people of this community were greatly grieved to learn of the death of Arnold Spring which occured at Pierre, South Dakota, Sunday, January 24, 1926. The body was brought to Corning Thursday for burial and services were conducted at Mt. Zion Church, Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. with his former pastor, Rev. W. C. McClelland in charge of services. He was 42 years, 10 months, 24 days old when he died. Interment was made in the Methodist Grove Cemetery. Arnold Spring, Jr., son of Arnold and Magdalena spring was born near Berne, Switzerland March 10, 1883. The same year the family came to Adams County, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. He moved to Pierre, South Dakotah several years ago where he resided until his death. He was married to Sarah Dollie Lawrence January 19, 1913 and to this union five children were born, Erma, Vera, Leona, Rollo, and Doris, all of whom are living. Besides his wife and children, the deceased leaves an aged mother and one sister, Mrs. Mattie Opitz of Herrington, Kansas. He is also survived by four brothers, M. P. Spring, J. J. Spring, J. G. Spring, and Wm. Spring, who reside near Nodaway. In his youth, Mr. Spring was a young man who was very devoted to his church, but when going to South Dakota the privilege of church services wer not alway convenient as during his life in Adams county, but he was always egar to take advantage of the opportunities to attend divine services. His boyhood and early manhood friends of this community remember him as one who was always manly and honorable in every particular. His family have a blessed memory of a loving son, a kind husband, and an affectionate father. Adams County Free Press, February 5, 1926
