Janice Krueger Kotch, passed away October 18, 2010. Mass of Christian burial is set for 11 a.m. Saturday, October 23, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Frenstat. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville Thursday, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday, from 4 to 8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. Friday rosary. Published in The Bryan-College Station Eagle on October 20, 2010 ------------------------------ December 7, 1953 ~ October 18, 2010 Janice departed this world peacefully, surrounded by family and friends on October 18, 2010 after a three and a half year battle with ovarian cancer. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville and also on Friday, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mass of Christian burial is set for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 23, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Frenstat with Msgr. Isidore Rozycki as Celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Janice was born December 7, 1953 in Cameron, Texas to Leon and Margaret Knesek Krueger. She was baptized and confirmed at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, graduated Valedictorian of Somerville High School in 1972, from Blinn College in 1974, and from Texas A&M University in 1978. Janice was an educator having served at A&M Consolidated High School and Somerville ISD. At the time of her death Janice served as the Behavior Management Director for Somerville ISD and was the advisor for the National Honor Society. She previously served as an officer for the Somerville Ex-Students Association, Band Boosters and SSPTO. Janice was very active in her church having served on the Holy Rosary Catholic Church Pastoral Council as secretary for more than 14 years, as secretary of the Altar Society for more than 24 years and also served as a Eucharistic Minister and Sunday school teacher. She was an active member of the Holy Rosary KJZT St. Cecilia Society #28. Janice was also involved in many aspects of the annual Holy Rosary Bazaar. She was the recipient of the 2010 Lumen Gentium Award for Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Diocese of Austin. Janice believed in understanding a task and seeing it through to completion and that no job was too big for her. Janice was preceded in death by her father, Leon Krueger; brother, Gene Krueger; and nephews, Donnie and Thomas Krueger. Survivors include her loving husband of 33 years, Jim of Somerville; son, Jimmy and wife, Marley, of Humble, Texas; daughter, Jeannie Goss and husband, 2nd Lt. Brian Goss (USMC) of Pace, Florida; and son, Jared of Somerville. Other survivors include her granddaughter, Delaney Kotch; mother, Margaret Krueger of Somerville; brother, Dennis Krueger and wife, Deborah, of Somerville; brother, Jeff Krueger and wife, Jackie, of Somerville; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made in memory of Janice Kotch to establish a memorial scholarship for graduating members of the Somerville High School National Honor Society.
