James Tidwell DEPORT - James Benjamin Tidwell, 88, a retired farmer of Deport, died at 4:25 a.m. Tuesday in McCuistion Medical Center. Services will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Deport Church of Christ. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery, Deport under the direction of Grant Funeral Home. He was born in Hope, Ark on Jan. 7, 1887, the son of Florence Floyd and Benjamin H. Tidwell. He came to Deport as a child and married the former Josephine Westbrook in 1908, who preceded him in death in 1925. He was then married to Mrs. Gertrude Cheatham Johnson in 1927. Survivors include his wife of Deport, and five daughters, Mrs. Lelia Westbrook and Mrs. Estelle Chesshire, both of Deport, Mrs. Margaret Martin of Dekalb, Mrs. Helen Fleming, Burkburnett and Mrs. Imogene Wilson of Paris; three sons, Hershel Tidwell of Plaquemire, La., Lloyd Tidwelt of Velle Platte, La., and Norman Tidwell of Euless; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Mary Parks of Deport, Mrs. Cora Brawley, also of Euless, Mrs. Ruby Dean Wright of Carlsbad, N. Mex., two stepsons, Ernest Johnson and Herman Johnson, both of Paris, 29 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and one sister, Mrs. Bob (Rosa) Reed of Quanah.
