Services for Mrs. W.H. Penix, 83, were held at the First Christian Church in Mineral Wells, Texas officiated by Rev. W.J. Cloud, pastor. Mrs. Penix was active in church work, particularly in missionary work. She was a member of the First Christian Church for many years. Miss Laura Bennett married William Henry Penix on 10 October 1899 at Palo Pinto, Texas. The couple moved to Mineral Wells, Texas in 1906 from Palo Pinto, Texas. From 1926-1931, the couple lived in Wichita Falls, Texas before returning to Mineral Wells. Mrs. Bennett moved to Whitt, Texas with her parents in 1884 from Hartford, Kentucky where her father established the Parker County Institute, a Methodist School. The family moved to Archer City, Texas in 1893 where her father was a teacher. Survived by one daughter - Mrs. Louelle P Atha; one foster daughter - Mrs. R.L. York; one son - Henry Penix; three sisters; one nephew - C.E. Penix. Contributed by Searchers of Our Past
