Bio

Daughter of William Eugene Hockaday and Beatrice Magnolia Lyons. Her obituary which appeared in The Crowley Post Signal, Crowley, Louisiana, Tuesday, October 1965 reads: Mrs. Bartell, 89, Dies Here Monday – Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today for Mrs. Beatrice Hockaday Bartell, 89, who died at 4:53 a.m. Monday at the American Legion Hospital. Services were at the Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lynn Simpson, pastor of First Presbyterian church, officiating and burial was in Woodlawn Mausoleum. A native of Crowley, Mrs. Bartell was the daughter of the late Beatrice M. Lyons Hockaday and William E. Hockaday. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Beverly Ann Ducrest, Patricia Beatrice Nugent and Gloria B. Gray; five grandchildren; one great granddaughter and three nieces. Pallbearers were Jeff Lyons, Don Foster, William Nugent, John Nugent, James W. Trahan and Mattthew J. Trahan and honorary pallbearers were Ray Manuel, Clyde Horn, James Lewis, Jack Hobgood, Howard Duncan and J.W. Landry.
