Bio

Jo Ann Strickland Jo Ann Walker Strickland, 80, of Greenville passed away September 28, 2010 at Hunt Regional Medical Center. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Hazelip and Rev. Gary Griffin officiating. Interment will follow at Tidwell Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 PM to 8 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Jo Ann was born September 30, 1929 in Hunt County to John Thomas and Julia Ragan Walker. On March 31, 1992, she married Belker G. Strickland in Greenville. She worked in retail sales and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, and Pythian Sisters. Jo Ann was a member of Old Concord Baptist Church. Her survivors include her brother Thomas Walker and wife, Lois of Louisville, Kentucky; sisters Ouida Windle of Denison and Billie Fleming and husband Paul of Greenville; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2004; parents; brothers Earl and James Walker; and sisters Angie McGowan, Edith Rozell, and Johnnie Wright. Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.
