Robert Washington Buchanan was post master of Burnt Mills, MS, a private with the 2nd Mississippi Infantry, Co. K and fought at the First Battle of Bull Run. He lived all his adult life in Paden, Tishomingo County, MS. He has great-grandchildren still living on the land he cleared and built his home on. He owned a store and was a pillar of his community. He is buried in Palestine Cemetery in Paden, MS. He was married to Frances Ann Oaks Williams until 1882 and then to Belle Zora Robinson. He had 8 children by Frances and 2 by Belle Zora the last a son, Chism, born in 1905. ∼ Robert Washington Buchanan married Mary Virginia Belle Zora Ellen Catherine Robinson on February 5th, 1888 in Paden, Tishomingo County, Mississippi. Their children include Grover Grimky Buchanan and Chisum Cortelyou Buchanan. Their grandchildren include Joan Panchetio BUCHANAN McCawley West. Rest in Peace, Mr. Buchanan.
