Bio

Chisum Cortelyou Buchanan is second child of Robert Washington Buchanan and Mary Virginia Belle Zora Ellen Catherine ROBINSON Buchanan. His older sibling is Grover Grimky Buchanan. Chisum married Ophelia FLEMING on August 12th, 1930 at the Hardee County Court House, Wauchula, FL and they had one child, "Joan" Panchetio BUCHANAN. Rest in Peace, Mr. Buchanan. ∼ He was a man loved by all. A cowboy, heavy equipment operator, deputy sheriff.In the early 1940's he owned a heavy equipment company in Nokatee, Florida. The outdoors was where he wanted to be. Inside work was not his idea of living. He married Ophelia Fleming on August 12, 1930,in Wauchula, Hardee County, Florida and one child a daughter, Joan Panchetio Buchanan, was born to them on October 29, 1931, in Bartow. His father was Robert Washington Buchanan, born January 1, 1833, near Talladega, Alabama, died July 17, 1911. He is buried in Palestine Cemetery, Paden, MS. His mother was Mary Virginia Belle Zora Catharine Ellen Robinson,born July 14, 1865, Russellville, Franklin County, Alabama, died February 22, 1942.They were married February 5, 1888. He had one brother Grover Grimky Buchanan and 4 half brothers, Robert, Walter, John, and Jessie, two half sisters, Eleanor Buchanan Jernigan Storment and Mary Buchanan Donaldson. The mother of the half brothers and sisters was Frances Ann Oaks Williams who died in 1882. She came from a very prominent Tennessee family.
