Bio

Simon Weinman, a late resident of 2107 Commercial Street, NE, died Monday of a heart attack while repairing damage caused by the recent storm. He was 60. Weinman, a gardener for the city water department, was working in the area of the city’s communication tower on Down’s St., S, when stricken about 2:15 p.m. He has been with the department for the past five years, and previously was employed by contractors in construction work. He came to the Salem area in 1919 from Nebraska. He was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Marie Weinman, a son Ted Weinman, at home; brothers, Fred Weinman, Brooks, Joe Weinman, Columbia, Mo.; half brother, Alex Schultz, Summerfort, Nebr.; sisters, Mrs. Paulina Doty, Broken Bow, Neb. And Mrs. Leah Rumph, Visalia, Calif. Services are pending at Howell-Edwards Mortuary.
