Bio

Andrew Weinman came to America on 23 April 1855 with his parents, Sam and Anna Barbara (Muehle) Weinman, and two sisters, Anna Barbara and Anna Marie. They arrived on the ship Confederation in New York City. They moved to the Elgin, Iowa area in Clayton County. He was naturalized on 16 May 1870 in Clayton County, Iowa. In 1870, he went back to Switzerland and brought back his future wife, Anna Marie Siegenthaler. They arrived on 29 Dec. 1870 in New York City on the City of Brooklyn ship. They were married in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin on 06 Jan. 1871. They lived in Marion, Iowa before moving to Custer County, Nebraska in 1883. To this union were 11 children: Frederick, Roseta, Samuel, Sarah, Felix, Lena, Pauline, Ida, William, Louise, Joseph. Andrew and Anna Marie divorced in 1899. Andrew traveled back to Switzerland and returned with his soon to be second wife, Marianna (Hansen) Schultz. They were married 07 Oct 1899 in Broken Bow, Nebraska. They lived in Custer County, Nebraska until moving to Salem, Oregon about 1929. To this union were 2 children, Leah and Simon. Andrew Weinman's obituary in the Oregon Statesman, Salem OR, Wed., June 20, 1934 At the family home, 2107 North Commercial street, June 17, Andrew Weinman, aged 92, Survived by widow, Marie, and the following children: Joseph, Samuel and William of Nebraska, Simon of Salem, Fred of Waconda, Mrs. Louis Folmer and Mrs. Pauline Doty, both of Nebraska, Mrs. Leah Rump of California. Funeral services Wednesday, June 20, at 2 p.m., at the Salem Mortuary, 545 North Capitol. Interment in Belcrest Memorial Park.
