He m1. Mable Alice Binning on 28 May 1912; they had a daughter Helen and divorced. He m2. Mamie Marie Hamlett on 06 Apr 1921; they had six children but two died young. He m3. Vivian Weyant Biggs Hitesman, who survived him. Dubuque Telegraph Herald Thursday 08 Apr 1948 Dubuqueland Deaths Edgewood, Ia. -- Arthur W. Kuhlman, 56, died suddenly here Wednesday afternoon, apparently from a heart attack. Veteran of World War I, he had been in poor health for several years. He was believed to have been gassed during the war. He lived in Edgewood most of his life and was operator of a cafe and an appliance store there. He was born April 15, 1891 at Colesburgh, Ia. He is survived by his wife, Vivian; his mother, Mrs. Herman Kuhlman of Greeley, Ia.; three daughters, Mrs. Helen English of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Joe Parker of Phoenix, Ariz. and Mrs. Neil Glass of Chicago; two sons, Jack of Modesto, Calif. and Jim, U.S. Navy; two grandchildren, one step-son; one step-daughter; three brothers, Ed of Manchester, and Elmer and Clarence of Greeley and three sisters, Mrs. Martha Kackbarth of Greeley, Mrs. Ruth Abram of Washington, D.C. and Mrs. Earl Beatty of Edgewood. The body was taken to the Rhines Funeral Home in Edgewood. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. Dubuque Telegraph Herald, Monday, 12 Apr 1948 Edgewood, la.— Military funeral services for Arthur W. Kuhlman, Edgewood businessman, were held Sunday afternoon at the Edgewood Congregational church. The Edgewood and Greeley posts of the American Legion conducted the services. Burial was in Edgewood cemetery. Kuhlman, a veteran of World w ar I, was a member of the Greeley post of the American Legion for many years and was instrumental in the establishment of the Edgewood post last year. The funeral had been planned for Saturday afternoon but was postponed when it was learned that his son, James Kuhlman, stationed with the navy in China, was flying home to attend the services.
