Mary Skoblik was the third child of the twelve children born to Martin and Eva Mazna Skoblik. She was born on 10 May 1863 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. Her parents and two older sisters had just emigrated from Czechoslovakia in 1862. Sadly, before Mary was born, her two sisters, Frances and Catherine Skoblik, died in 1862 from small pox. Sometime between 1863 and 1865, the Skoblik family moved to the Twin Cities area in Minnesota. The 1880 U. S. Census shows the Skoblik family living near Bechyn, in Henryville Township, Renville County, Minnesota. In 1882, Mary’s father, Martin Skoblik, helped build the (first) Catholic Church in Bechyn. On 19 April 1882, Mary was married in the church to John Kojetin, the son of Vaclav (Wencel) and Anna Macholda Kojetin. Mary and John moved to Missouri for a few years; then, returned to the Bechyn area where they purchased a farm. They lived and farmed in the Bechyn area until 1910, when they moved to Montana. Their five children, Walter Martin, John Emanuel, Matthew Charles, Helen Eva, and Stephen Albert, were all born near Bechyn, in Henryville Township, Renville County, Minnesota. On 16 May 1900, another daughter, Adele Jennie, was born to Mary Skoblik and John Kojetin. When she was 39 years old, Adele was living with Mary and John in Lewistown, Fergus County, Montana. She married at the age of 40 on 14 May 1941, in Danvers, Fergus County, Minnesota. Adele died in 1983, at the age of 83. Mary Skoblik Kojetin died at the age of 82, on 16 September 1945, in Danvers, Fergus County, Montana. She was buried beside her husband, John Kojetin, in the Danvers Cemetery in Danvers.
