The following is the obituary of Sam Troxel from the Custer County Chief Newspaper, Broken Bow, Nebraska, dated August 8, 1963. It was printed from microfilm from the newspaper archives of the Nebraska State Historical Society in Lincoln, Nebraska: Sam Troxel Dies at 57; Funeral on Friday P.M. Funeral services for Sam Troxel, 57, will be held Friday, Aug. 9 at 2 p.m. at the Scheringer-Johnson & Govier Bros. chapel with the Rev. Frank Kirtley officiating. Mr. Troxel died the evening of Tuesday, Aug. 6 at a Broken Bow hospital. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery near Anselmo with IOOF graveside services. Survivors: wife, Sadie of Anselmo; sons, Richard of Merna, Lawrence of Valentine; daughter, Sharon, at home in Anselmo; brothers, Dave of Clinton, Iowa, Bill of Casper, Wyo, Jack of Vancouver, Wash., Ray of West Plains, Mo.; sister Mary Vose of Broken Bow, Rose Mason of Thedford and Opal Molesworth of Dannebrog." Sam Troxel was born May 6, 1906, in Nebraska, and died August 6, 1963.
