Bio
Funeral services were held for Lee Wells, Wednesday, September 13, 1995 at Rhoad's Funeral Chapel in Sargent. Interment was in the Mount Hope Cemetery. Walter Lee Wells was born June 14, 1906 on the family farm in Custer County. He was the third son born to Lewis Walter and Louisa Christina Bitter Wells. He passed away Monday, September 11, at Good Samaritan Hospital, in Kearney after a brief illness at the age of 89 years, 2 months and 27 days. Lee received his early educa¬tion in Country schools, and after the death of his parents in 1929 and 1930, he helped care for his younger brothers and sisters. He was married to Marian Cole on February 10, 1934, in Winner, South Dakota. They lived in Taylor until 1937. They moved to Morrill for two years and then to Wyoming for ten years. They moved to Whitney in 1949, where they farmed until they came back to Sargent in 1961. Lee loved the land and fanning. He is survived by one son Carl and wife of Valentine; one daughter Dorlea McWilliams and husband Deny of Abilene, Texas; five grandchildren; Mike Wells and family of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Brad Wells and family of Palmer, Nebraska; Michelle Belitz and family of Central City, Nebraska; Jeffrey Me Williams and family of Houston, Texas and Dean Me Williams and family of Desha, Arkansas; ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Esther Hoobler of Sargent, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and one sister, his wife Marian and one great-granddaughter. Clergy was Samm Johnston and music by soloist Janice Unruh and organist Donna Goodbrake. Pallbearers were Rick Leibert, Roger Sinner, Lonnie Hughes, Duane Kissell, Conrad Sutton, and Sterling Sutton. Rhoad Funeral Home of Sargent was in charge of arrangements.
