Bio

Dollie Stephens, 88, passed away Friday, Sept. 10, 2010. Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday at the Texas Masonic Retirement Center. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Arlington Funeral Home. Dollie was born June 1, 1922, in Healdton, Okla., to William and Florence Mabry Daniel. She was the oldest of 10 children. She was married for 69 years to the love of her life, Monroe Stephens. When she and Monroe were first married, they lived on the north side and were members of Azle Avenue Baptist Church. They then moved to Haltom City and joined Birdville Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and WMU president. She worked 17 years at the Montgomery Ward's store on Seventh Street in the credit office and seven years for the Senior Nutrition Activity Program in Whitesboro. She was a 65-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of North Fort Worth 684 and then moved to Haltom City, where she was worthy matron of Haltom City Chapter 982. Afterwards she and her husband moved to Lake Texoma, where she served as worthy matron of Whitesboro Chapter 708. She was a member at First Baptist Church of Gordonville where she served in many capacities. Dollie enjoyed fishing and spending time with her grandchildren. She and Monroe took their grandchildren on many fishing and camping trips that will always be fondly remembered. She was a great cook and could organize any event, including many fish fries where she not only caught the fish, but also cleaned it and cooked it. She was a blessing to all who knew her. Dollie and Monroe had lived at the Texas Masonic Retirement Center for 10 years. Dollie was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and two brothers. Survivors: Daughter, Ruth Ann Freeman and husband, Larry; granddaughter, Ronda Phillips and husband, Dean; grandsons, Randy Trice and wife, Stacy, and Rodney Trice and wife, Andrea; and great-grandchildren, Landon, Breck, Taylor, Hunter, Elliana and Nathaniel.
