Dorothy Ann Kirkpatrick, age 75, of York, NE, died Thursday, September 9, 2010 in York. She was born April 4, 1935 at Utica, NE, to Daniel and Minnie (Cuda) Sullivan. Dorothy was employed by North Western Bell Telephone before becoming a wife and mother. She then worked for 26 years as an administrative assistant for the teachers at York High School. Prior to retirement she worked in the family business (Kirk's Korner) in York. Dorothy and Daniel Kirpatrick were married on December 28, 1957 in Utica, NE. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in York and the Alter Society. Dorothy was well known in the formative years of York girl's softball. She served as head coach for the York Angels in the mid 70's and softball mom for the York Saints through 1982. She enjoyed following family sporting events, quilting and craftwork. Survivors include her husband Dan of York; son Vaughn Kirkpatrick of York; daughter Sue Kirkpatrick of Bloomington, IL; brothers, Dan (Elsie) Sullivan of Waco, NE and James Sullivan of Waco, NE. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, other family members and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; three infant children: Lori Ann, Richard Allen and Connie Lyn; siblings, Robert Sullivan, Dolores Kozicek, Raymond Sullivan and Carmen Beaver. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 13, 2010 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in York with Monsignor James Reinert officiating and Father William Kalin assisting. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery, York. A Rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m., Sunday at Metz Mortuary, York, NE. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the mortuary. Memorials may be directed to St. Joseph Catholic Church or for Masses.
