Edward Marshal Johnson was the son of George Johnson (1819-1876) and Mary Ann Currier. (Thanks to dscott for his parents!) He was married to Katerina Augusta Smith Jan. 1, 1896 at York, NE. (Pawnee Library, book with list of obits in Pawnee Republican.) EDWARD M. JOHNSON Edward Marshall Johnson, youngest son of George and Mary Johnson, was born Nov. 24, 1859, in Nemaha county, Kan., and died at the family home in Pawnee City Sept. 5, 1943, aged 83 years, 9 months and 10 days. When he was seven days old his mother died, and the father moved his family to Barton county Mo. At the age of 13 he lost his father and came back to Kansas to make his home with his brothers. In 1882 he went to York county, Nebr. and united with the Methodist church at Bradshaw. Jan 1, 1896, he was united in marriage to Katherine A. Smith at York, and to this union 12 children were born. Two sons and one daughter preceded him in death. In 1905 the family came to Pawnee county, and this has been the home ever since. Those left to mourn his departure are his wife and his nine children, Jay M. and Merton A. of Pawnee City, Byron E. of Albin, Wyo., Mrs. Carl Tibbetts of Topeka, Kan., Mrs. Halbert Snyder of Omaha, George W. and Warren H. in the service of their country, and Mae and Dolly at home. He also leaves 20 grandchildren and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Wherry chapel, Rev. w. N. Wallis officiating, and interment was in the Pawnee City cemetery. (Thanks to TAP-MHG #50453323 for posting this obituary.)
