Bio

Dr. H. Jennings Douglass, of Dothan, passed away early Christmas morning, 2006, in his home following an extended illness. He was 80. Dr. Douglass was born July 10, 1926, in Jacksonville, Ark., son of the late Alton J. Douglass and Rennie Jewel Joiner Douglass. He graduated with his B.A. from University of Arkansas where he was active in the Kappa Sigma fraternity. He received his M.D. from the University of Arkansas College of Medicine and interned at the U. S. Marine Hospital in New Orleans. Dr. Douglass then practiced medicine in Malvern, Ark., for 10 years before moving to Alabama for a residency in dermatology at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He completed a Dermatological Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. He and his wife Pat moved the family to Dothan in 1964 to become this area's first full time dermatologist. After 27 years of practice, he retired in 1991 to travel and spend time with family. Dr. Douglass was a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Dermatology and was a past president of the Houston County Medical Society.
