Mrs. Laura Alice Williams, 85, of Delaney, died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born March 5, 1880 in Kentucky, the daughter of John T. and Manerva Calhoon. She was a member of the Holiness Church. Survivors are four sons, Floyd and Lonnie Shackelford both of Delaney; Oliver Shackelford of Sulphur City and Clyde E. Warford of El Paso, Tex., two daughters, Mrs. Oma Gabbard of Combs and Mrs Nora Walker of Durham; one brother, Sam M. Calhoon of Crosses; three sisters, Mrs. Louisa Easley of Combs, Mrs Lucy Jarnigan of Cherokee, Okla. and Mrs Rosa Duncan of Chelan, Wash., 63 grandchildren; 132 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at the Brannon Church with burial in the Brannon Cemetery under direction of Moore's Chapel. 1st wife of Willie T. Shackelford, she married 2nd Dozier Warford, Washington Co. Mar 16, 1918 and they had one son Clyde Warford; married 3rd Charles Tucker and married 4th Mr. _____ Williams; Laura was a midwife and delivered many babies in this area. She had her own casket made and lined it herself. Her house, including the casket, burned and she had another one made in which she was buried. SSA Willie T. Shackelford (1st husband)
