Bio

OBITUARY: Alvin Roth was born August 23, 1899 to Jacob and Lena (Guth) Roth, near Milford, Nebraska and departed this life on May 18, 1986 at the Seward Memorial Hospital, Seward, Nebraska at the age of 86 years, 8 months and 25 days. In his youth he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and became a member of the West Fairview Mennonite Church. His membership was later transferred to Milford Mennonite Church where he attended as health permitted. On February 11, 1923, he was united in marriage to Minnie Miller, who preceded him in death on September 19, 1977. This union was blessed with three daughters, Opal (Mrs. Leonard Lichti), Faye (Mrs. Lloyal Burkey) and Donna (Mrs. Wilbur Unruh). One daughter, Faye, survives, along with 16 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren. He was a favorite to all his children and grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and will be greatly missed by all. On November 21, 1982, he was united in marriage to Elma Stutzman, who survives along with her eight children and their families. His loving and cheerful ways made their short married life together very happy. Their stepchildren and grandchildren appreciated having him as a stepfather. His determination and cheerful outlook on life blessed everyone who knew him. Also surviving are three brothers, Amos and Arthur of Milford, and Lester of Friend. He was also preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Clara (Mrs. Leonard Wyse) and Sadie (Mrs. Ezra Hochstetler)
