Services for Birdie Elaine McDowell Harris were at 1 PM, Friday, September 3, 2010 at Camp Eight Pentecostal Church, Otis, Rev. Samuel Russell and Brother Elbert Smith officiated. Interment followed at Camp Eight Pentecostal Church Cemetery, Otis. Birdie Elaine McDowell Harris, 83 passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2010. She was involved with numerous charity activities and organizations. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Harvey Harris. She is survived by her children, Carolyn D. Harris and Marilyn J. Harris of Alexandria, Brenda Pickering (John) of Tioga, John Harris, Jr (Laurie) of San Antonio, Texas, Ricky Harris (Nelda) of Houston, Texas and Lynnda Smith (Randy) of Hineston, Texas; seven grand-children, Ashley Riccardi of Tioga, Adam Gilbert of Abita Springs, Bridget Harris of Houston, Shane Lum of Biloxi, Mississippi, Richard Sasser of Orlando, Florida, Amy Smith of Beaumont, Texas and Weston Harris of San Antonio, Texas; ten great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services were under the direction of Magnolia Funeral Home, Alexandria.
