BIRTH: the book, A Short Line Across America, shows his birth date as 14 Jan 1874. In the 1880 census, Richard is listed as 6 . The 1900 census shows Jan 1874. His headstone, of course, reads 10 March 1871. I have to assume that the birth date on his headstone is incorrect.
