Grand Island (Nebraska) Daily Independent Monday, 13 June 1949 Frank C. Albee, 66, owner and operator of the Albee Printing Company and a former employe of the Grand Island Daily Independent, died suddenly Sunday evening near North Loup while returning to Grand Island after visiting a son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Rhoades. He left the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rhoades late yesterday afternoon. Neighbors found him in his car a little more than a mile away. Death was attributed to a heart attack. His home was on the Stolley Park road. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Livingston-Sondermann funeral home by Dr. James Chubb, pastor of the Methodist church. Burial will be in Grand Island cemetery. Frank Chapman Albee was born Nov. 11, 1882, at Webster, Ia., to Mr. and Mrs. Luther Albee. He received his schooling and began to learn the printer's trade there. His printer's work took him to many communities among which were Lake City, Ia., and Fort Dodge, Ia. He came to Grand Island when a young man and was employed by the Augustine Company. He entered the employment of the Grand Island Daily Independent in 1920 and remained with the paper until he founded the Albee Printing Company. The company, which had a modest beginning, developed into one of the city's leading printing companies. Mr. Albee had made a hobby of raising good chickens and in 1929 he began the operation of the Nebraska State Hatchery near his home on Stolley Park Road. Althought the hatchery was a commercial enterprise, he continued his hobby of raising good chickens. He was an authority on fowl raising and had served as a judge at prize exhibits. He and Miss Ethel Boyce were married Feb. 28, 1915, in Grand Island. Mrs. Albee died Aug. 19, 1932. Mrs. Albee was a member of the Methodist church and of Aerie No. 378, Fraternal Order of Eagles. Surviving are two sons, Harold and Bob Albee, both of Grand Island; three daughters, Mrs. Allen Egelston, Phoenix, Ariz., and Mr. Earl Rhoades and Mrs. David Rowland, both of North Loup; three sisters, Mrs. Sadie Cretzler, Grand Island, Mrs. Rena Burns, Council Bluffs, Ia., and Mrs. Rose Burns, Mesa, Ariz.; and seven grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
