Martha Bella (Albee) Olson 1879 ~ 1907 Aged 27 years 3 months Bella was the daughter of Nelson & Ella Albee. In 1898 at the age of 19 she was married to Otto Arthur Olson in Fort Dodge, Iowa. They were the parents of two sons and a daughter: Kenneth L Olson (1900- ) Vernon E Olson (1904- ) Velma Ernestine Olson (1907- 1907) (Iowa, Births and Christenings Index, 1857-1947), (Iowa, Select Deaths and Burials, 1850-1990) She lived only 9 years as his wife. The news paper articles below tell of her marriage and her illness and death. Evening Messenger, Fort Dodge, IA Date: Friday, August 19, 1898 Page 4 On August 17 occurred the marriage of Belle Albee to Otto Oleson of Fort Dodge; the bride has many friends in Evanston who wish them joy. --------------------------------------------------- Fort Dodge Semi-Weekly Chronicle, Fort Dodge, IA Date: Friday, April 12, 1907 Page 6 Mrs Otto Oleson died at the Haviland house, 926; Third avenue north, Tuesday morning at six o clock of pneumonia. Mrs. Oleson resided on a farm about four miles northeast of the city. She had been taking treatment at the hospital and thinking that there was a change for the better her husband had removed her to a private room. However, her case was beyond hope and death came in a short time. The funeral will be held from the home of the deceased’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. L. Albee of 128 Eleventh avenue south, at 9:30 Thursday, and at 10 o'clock from the Baptist church. ---------------------------------------------------- Fort Dodge Messenger, Fort Dodge, IA Tuesday. OTTO OLESON DIES Passed Away This Morning After Extended Illness In the City Mrs. Otto Oleson, the wife of one of the better known Webster County farmers, residing a few miles north of the city in Cooper township, passed away at 6:00 o'clock this morning at the old Haviland home on North Third Avenue, after an extended illness. Death was immediately due to pneumonia, though the deceased had been ill for some time, having moved to the city and rented rooms in the Haviland home in order to receive daily medical attention. The funeral will occur on Thursday morning from the First Baptist church at 10:00 o'clock, interment following in Oakland cemetery. note: Bella was the 1st wife of my husband’s grandfather, the marriage certificate & License has Otto Olson, Olson is on his grave stone in Oregon.
