Bio

Son of Nancy Osborne and Elijah Corder II. Married to Margaret Frances Ramey on 10 Jan 1871 in Scott Co, VA. Elijah killed Tandy Baker who was with the Klan. The Klan accused Elijah of living with a woman [to whom he wasn't married]. The Klan would cut big bunches of switches, and they were coming to get him, and he shot through the door of his house, killing Tandy Baker. Elijah Corder, 78, was shot and killed at Mountain Camp near Gates City, Va, Sept. 27, 1927, allegedly by John Riner who was charged with Corder's murder. An argument over a saddle is said to have precipitated the shooting. The officers at Dungannon said that Corder had been shot with a .20 guage Winchester repeating shot gun.
