Bio

Rosanne M. Hollister, 62, of St. Paul died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010, at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Rosanne was born March 27, 1948, in Columbus to Albert X. and Frances K. (Mimick) O'Connor. Survivors are: her husband, Marvin W. Hollister of St. Paul; sons and daughters-in-law, Eric and Charlene Hollister of Grand Island, Kevin and Jaime Hollister of Boiling Springs, N.C., and Andrew and Michelina Hollister of Martell; brothers and sisters-in-law, Albert X. and Martina O'Connor, Jr. of Yuma Ariz., and Daniel and Sandra O'Connor of Wahoo; grandchildren, Brandon, Justin and Ryan Hollister of Grand Island, Odin and Thane Hollister of Boiling Springs, N.C., Lillianna and Logan Hollister of Martell and a host of friends and relatives. She graduated from Columbus Senior High in 1966. Rosanne married Marvin W. Hollister on Nov. 26, 1977. The couple lived in Doniphan and Grand Island until they built their home at Lake of the Woods, north of St. Paul in the summer of 1997. Rosanne worked at Skagway of Grand Island for many years. She also worked for the family travel agency, A Affordable Travel. The last 10 years she worked for the Cabela's call center. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. She served as Cub Scout leader many times and even Cub Master for a year. She served as Nebraska rural letter carriers auxiliary committee person for the western half of Nebraska for the last five years and was recently recognized as 2010 Auxiliary Member of the Year. She loved going to the casinos and escorted buses there for Navigator Motorcoaches. Rosanne and Marvin loved traveling in their RV to visit family. They took many trips to NC to visit Kevin's family and also went to Yuma, Ariz., to visit her brother, Bert (and Marty). Most other weekends were spent with the Nebraska grandkids. As a family, they enjoyed fishing, birdwatching, playing games and cards, especially cribbage. Rosanne was very devoted to her family and spent as much time as possible with her grandchildren. She was preceded by her father, Albert X O'Connor, mother, Frances K. O'Connor, and a brother, Patrick J. O'Connor. Published in The Grand Island Independent on 8/26/2010
