Bio

Son of John C. Pullen Dan Pullen, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Pullen, spent his entire life in Shelby County, TX. He was elected county tax assessor in 1926, and had been re-nominated without opposition in July 1928. His wife was selected to fill his unexpired term, and also named the Democratic nominee for the position for the coming 2 years. Dan Pullen died suddenly while on a fishing trip, on the river about 20 miles below Shelbyville. He had been in "apparently good health", and was accompanied on the trip by his young son, Bennis. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Shelbyville Methodist Church. Survivors included his wife; children: Mrs. I. A. Stephenson of Dallas, Mrs. Alvie Akin of Benton, LA, John C. Pullen of Houston, and Clara, Bennis, and Evie Dell Pullen of Center; 1 stepdaughter: Terah Forbis; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Pullen of Shelbyville; 1 brother: Jim Pullen; and 2 sisters: Mrs. M. Y. Powell of Center, and Mrs. Sam Buckner of Houston.
