OBIT- page 1, Thursday, 8 March 1923 HOLBROOK OBSERVER, Holbrook Nebraska Henry M. Rowlee was born in New York, 1842. At an early age he immigrated with his parents to Wisconsin, where later he was married to Miss Lucinda Clute. Three children were born to this union, two of whom died in infancy. A son Gilbert, survives. Mr. Rowlee served in the first Wisconsin cavalry during the entire Civil war. In 1882 the family moved to Arapahoe, where Mr. Rowlee resided until about ten years ago when he went to live with his son at Imperial, his wife. having preceded him to the Great Beyond five years before that time. He died on his 81st birthday at Imperial, of complications due to pnenmonia and old age. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church at Arapahoe, and he was laid to rest beside his wife in the Arapahoe cemetery. The son, his wife and the four grandchildren, also hosts of friends are left to mourn the loss of one who was kind and loving and good but who now will never more know pain, nor sorrow, but will reap the reward of a good and faithful servant. OBIT- page 6, Thursday, 9 March 1944 IMPERIAL REPUBLICAN Imperial, Nebraska Henry M. Rowlee, who has been ill for some time, died last Friday night. He was a Civil War veteran, having served throughout the war in the First Wisconsin Cavalry, which he enlisted. The deceased was born 2 March 1842, and passed away on his birthday, 1923, aged 81 years. One son, Gilbert, and four grandchildren are left to mourn his loss. A short service was held Saturday morning at Smith's undertaking parlor, conducted by Rev. A.G. Swanson. The remains were taken to Holbrook for burial. Members of Imperial Post No. 92, American Legion, were pallbearers.
