The Mulvane News Mulvane, Kansas Thursday, December 22, 1921 page 8 Sarah Elizabeth Willis Sarah Elizabeth Willis was born in the state of Kentucky, October 27, 1836, and departed this life in Udall, Kansas, December 17, 1921, aged 85 years, 1 month and 20 days. When she was seventeen she with her mother, moved to Illinois and here she was united in marriage to John Willis. In the year 1876 they came to kansas and took a homestead near Wichita. In 1903 they moved to Udall where she resided until her death, her husband having preceded her twelve years ago. To this union eleven children were born, seven of whom are now living; George Willis, Douglass, Kansas; Otis Willis of Atlanta, Kansas; Alvin Willis of California; Mrs. Estella Shockey, Dave, Luther, and Walter Willis of Udall. Early in life Grandma Willis gave her heart to God and united with the Methodist Episcopal church of which body she remained a member to the end of her life. She leaves to mourn her loss seven children, seventeen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and a host of friends. For years Grandma has been a patient sufferer, and anxiously awaited the summons to come up higher, especially has this been true since the departure of her life companion.
