Son of J & L DEATH OF THEIR FIRST BORN- Died February 9, 1899 at 3 o'clock p.m.. Clell Irwin eldest son of John and Lida Wood, aged 9 years, 4 months and 14 days after a short illness of less than 48 hours. Thus one so bright and cheerful with the bloom of health upon his cheeks, so dear and precious to his parents has been called away. All that loving hearts and willing hands could do could not stay the hand of death, raising his eyes heavenward he said, "help me up there Papa, I want you all to meet me in heaven, pray for me papa, I never forgot my little prayer." at the close of the father's prayer he said "don't worry about me the pain is gone" and the spirit took flight to the one who said suffer little children to come unto me and forbid them not for of such is the kingdom of Heaven. A very tender and beautiful funeral service was held at Tool's Chapel conducted by Rev. Dunlevy, a favorite hymn of the child's "A Way worn Traveler" was gently sung by Mrs. J.A. Tool. The grief stricken parents have the sympathy of the entire community in the loss of their loved one.
