Bio

Funeral services will be held on Monday, at 3:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church for Curtis William Anderson, age 63, 1405 Chico St., who passed away on Friday in a Houston, Texas hospital. Burial will be in Carlsbad Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Prock of the First Baptist Church officiating. Born in Comanche, Texas, he moved to Littlefield, Texas and attended schools there. Curtis moved from Palestine, Texas, to Artesia, NM in 1951 where he served on the city council and was co-owner of Anderson Motor Co. Curtis moved to Carlsbad, NM in 1970 where he ranched, farmed and owned Anderson Used Car Co. Curtis served in the United States Army in World War II, was past president of the Sheriff's Posse, a member of the Carlsbad Masonic Lodge and a member of Elks Lodge 54. Curtis was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy A. Anderson, Carlsbad, NM, two sons, David Anderson of Dallas, TXX and John Anderson of Singapore, two step-sons, Rel Lovejoy of Gatlinburg, TN and Richard Stegall, Arlington, TX, his mother, Beulah Anderson of Carlsbad, NM, two sisters, Nina Mattern of Carlsbad, NM and Patsy Byron, Colorado Springs, CO and two grandchildren.
