D/O Neri & Harriett Homes Hoskin Obituary - Scrapbook at the Davis County Library, Bloomfield, IA Flora Lee Downing, 97, of Bloomfield, died July 15, 2000, at Bloomfield Care Center. She was born Nov. 23,1902, in Cantril to Neri and Harriet Homes Hoskin. She married Floyd Downing on April 30, 1924, in Davis County; he died Oct. 10, 1979. She graduated from Bloomfield High School and Drake University. She taught school in Wapello and Van Buren counties and retired from Davis County Schools after 36 years of service. She and her husband farmed north of Bloomfield for more than 50 years. She was a member of the Farm Bureau and was a 4-H leader for many years. She is survived by a son, Harold Downing, of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one sister, Mary. She was preceded in death by six brothers, Earl, Carl, Stanley, Neri, Garlan and Leslie Hoskin and three sisters, Orpha, Stella and Affa. The services were Tuesday at Priester Funeral Chapel in Bloomfield with the Rev. Quentin Johnson officiating. Burial was in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. Memorials may be made to the Floris Community Hall.
