Bio

Son of John Marr Berry Sr. and Anne East who are buried Ellettsville, Indiana. Nathaniel Green Berry enlisted in the 4th Indiana Infantry on 02/03/1848 in Bloomington, Indiana. This was during the Mexican War. He was discharged 06/20/1848 where he had been stationed at Newport Barracks, Kentucky. He moved to Linn County, Iowa around the year 1850. Nathaniel Green Berry was married to Jane Clementine McPike on 01/13/1853 in Linn County, Iowa. Jane is buried in this cemetery. Nathaniel died of pneumonia as a letter states he has a cough just like Elick had. (Elick was his brother who went back to Indiana to visit his parents and died.) Nathaniel Green Berry and Jane Clementine McPike were parents of nine children: William Henry Berry born on 01/29/1854 moved to Kansas; Sarah Elizabeth Berry born on 06/16/1855 buried this cemetery; James Alexander Berry born 09/06/1856 buried this cemetery; Charles Marr Berry born on 08/17/1857 buried this cemetery; Walter Scott Berry born on 03/12/1858 moved to Cornith, Mississippi; Jesse Gilbert Berry born 06/25/1860 lived in Salem, Oregon in 1911; Anna Elizabeth (Berry) Shaffer born 12/26/1861 buried Troy Mills, Iowa; John George Berry born __/__/1862 was in Colorado in 1911; George Washington Berry born 7/__/1864 buried this cemetery.
