Adolph served as a Staff Sergeant & Gunner on B-25D #41-30254, 499th Bomber Squadron, 345th Bomber Group, Medium, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He resided in Colfax County, Nebraska prior to the war. B-25D #41-30254 took off, with a crew of 6 and other B-25's, from Nadzab Airfield, Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea on a strafing mission over the Yalau Plantation near Hopoi, Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea. They were seen by the other B-25's to slip out of formation and shortly after that the other B-25's noticed a large flash. There was zero visibility noted by the other B-25's due to the weather in the area. The entire crew of B-25D #41-30254 was lost on this mission. Adolph was declared "Missing In Action" on this mission during the war. He was awarded the Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Cluster and the Purple Heart with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters. Service # 37074998 Adolph also has a "Cenotaph" in the Schuyler Cemetery, Schuyler, Nebraska. ( see family links below ) His brother, Pvt. Robert J.
