Bio

Joseph Satorie was born to his loving parents James Vencil Sr. and Katharine "Katie" (Kutilek) Satorie on Friday November 14, 1862 at Caslovia Czechoslovakia. My research found no information on his early childhood or schooling. Joseph immigrated to America in 1879 at the age of seventeen with his father, mother, and two sisters. Joseph's father and mother purchased a Saunders County Nebraska farm upon arriving to this country, he settled on this farm with his parents. In November of 1889 Joseph was united in marriage to his first wife Antonia Chmelka , I believe the couple were blessed with three children. Sadly Antonia passed on Friday October 7, 1898 leaving Joseph to raise their three children. Joseph was united in marriage to his second wife Marie Rejnk the former wife of Vaclav Koutnik on Monday March 31, 1902 at Linwood, Butler County. At the time of their marriage I believe Marie had a previous nine year old daughter Anna and a two year old son James. I believe Joseph and Marie were blessed with one child during their four years of marriage. In 1906 Joseph and Marie moved their family of six to a farm four miles northwest of North Bend. Sadly Marie passed on Friday August 24, 1906 that same year. Joseph must have continued to raise the six children on this farm, my research found no information on Joseph remarrying a third time. Joseph farmed this North Bend farm until his death. Sadly Joseph passed away at his farm home on Thursday August 20, 1953 at 2p after two years of illness. Joseph was 90 years, 9 months, 6 days which does not include his last day, he lived a total of 33,151 days. Joseph's funeral service was held at the Selihorn Mortuary of North Bend on Sunday afternoon on August 23, 1953 at 2:30p with the Rev. J. Lester Hart officiating. Joseph was interred in the Killian (Czech National) Cemetery at Saunders County Nebraska. Joseph's information was provided from researching many resources and my memory. This biography was created as an honor to Joseph by a family friend Loren R. I believe all lives matter, even the lives of those who have passed. Many details are still missing from his life, if you have any more details I will be happy to edit the additional information into this biography.
