Survived by father Fred C Pettigrew 1898-1978, sisters Mary J Pettigrew -1984, Dorothy E Pettigrew 1926 -2015, and Virginia Pettigrew Goodwin 1935-2012 Entered the service from Texas. On 19 Dec 1944, mission was to deliver critical air support to ground forces in Belgium during the Battle of the Bulge. Pettigrew was in B-17, #42-50597, called "Beaver's Baby" when it crashed in heavy fog during takeoff. There were no survivors. Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Purple Heart
