The People's Banner (David City, Nebraska) 01 Mar 1928, Thu Page 1 FRANK RUZICKA DEAD Frank Ruzicka was born at Zestovice, Czechoslovakia, on January 15, 1850. He came to America in 1872 at the age of 14 years and located in Omaha with his parents. He followed the trade of a tailor, which he had learned in the old country until he was 21 years of age. Mr. Ruzicka leaves his wife and seven children, Frank, Emil and Will Ruzicka of North Bend, Ed Ruzicka of Wayne, Mrs. Sophie Bouzek of Linwood, Mrs. Lillie Hines of Wahoo and Mrs. Albina McCormick of David City. He also leaves one brother, John Ruzicka, residing at Howells, and eight grandchildren, Raymond Bouzek of Weeping Water, son of Mr. and Mrs. F.A. Bouzek, Emma Ruzicka, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ruzicka, Leona, Alvin and Emil, children of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Ruzicka, Lillian, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph B. Hines, and Billie and Fredrick, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Will Ruzicka. He was married September 9, 1879, to Mary Koutnik, also of Omaha. They located on a small farm 20 miles north of Schuyler, where they resided for four years. They later located in Butler county, 3-1/2 miles west of Linwood, and farmed there, with his family, for 30 years. Retiring in 1913, they moved to Linwood where he and his wife have resided the past 15 years. Mr. and Mrs. Ruzicka encountered many hardships during their first few years of married life. Had Mr. Ruzicka lived until September 9, 1929, he and Mrs. Ruzicka would have been able to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary. Mr. Ruzicka was a devoted husband and father. His first thoughts were always of his family, and he will be greatly missed in his family circle. He had many friends who mourn his untimely death. He was a member of the Presbyterian church. He died at his home in Linwood, Nebraska, Friday morning, February 24, 1928, from a stroke of apoplexy. He was 68 years, 1 month and 9 days of age. Mr. Ruzicka had been failing health for the past three years. Funeral services were held at the Ruzicka home at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 26th, conducted by Rev. Fillipi of Clarkson. Singing was by Mr. and Mrs. Emil Wolf and Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Walla, the songs sung in both English and Bohemian. Joe Barta, Rudolph Peltz, John Peltz, Frank Peltz, Joe Vavra and Frank Wesely were the pallbearers. Interment was in Killian Hill cemetery. All of the Ruzicka children were in attendance at the funeral, as were also three nephews of Mr. Ruzicka, Anton and Joe Ruzicka of Clarkson and Joe Ruzicka of Rogers, and their families, and a brother of Mr. Ruzicka, John Ruzicka of Howells.
