Published Obituary: Fremont Tribune (Fremont, Nebraska), Wed 16 Sep 1942, Page 12 Last Rites Held For Mrs. Kavan Linwood - Funeral services were held from the Z.C.B.J. hall for Mrs. Barbara Kavan, 74, who died at St. Mary's hospitl in Columbus, where she had been treated for illness for 10 days. Mrs. Kavan had been in failing health the last several years. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Shavlik and was born October 20, 1867, in Czechoslovakia. She came to this country as a child with her parents. She was married in September, 1888, to Martin Kavan. They farmed east of town for many years. In 1910 they retired and moved to town, where the home had been since that time. He died March 16, 1940. They were parents of four daughters, three of whom survive and one of whom, Mrs. Emily Cernusak, died in January, 1941. Those surviving are Mrs. Tillie Peltz and Mrs. Libby Dufe, both of Hemingford, Nebr., and Miss Agnes Kavan who lives at home. Rev. B.A. Fillipi of Clarkson officiated at the services, and burial was in the Killian cemetery near Morse Bluff. Pallbearers were John L. Hoffman, Joseph Walla, Edward Tichacek, Frank Shavlik, Louis Shavlik and John J. Peltz. Out-of-town relatives attending included Mrs. Katie Krachie and daughters, Mrs. Ed Zabrizki and Mrs. George Lee, and son, Richard, James Voboril and Mrs. Otto Charval, all of Omaha.
