The Schuyler Sun (Schuyler, Nebraska) 19 Feb 1931, Thu Page 5 Joseph Hines of Morse Bluff Dies Joseph Hines, one of the earliest settlers in the Morse Bluff community, died at his home Wednesday of last week, and funeral services were held Friday under the auspices of Z.C.B.J. lodge with Rev. B.A. Filipi of Clarkson in charge. Burial was made in the Killian cemetery. Mr. Hines was born in Czechoslovakia in 1845, locating first in Chicago, where he was employed by a lumber company for a year and a half. He was married to Miss Anna Zakovec in Chicago in 1868. In 1871, they moved to Nebraska to engage in farming, which occupation he followed until his death. Mr. Hines is survived by his wife and the following children: Frank, James, John, Mrs. Edward Racek and Mrs. Rudolph Kavan. Four grandsons and two great-nephews acted as pallbearers at his funeral. Mr. Hines lived on the same farm near Morse Bluff for 60 years.
