Bio

Sioux Center Funeral Services were held at the First Christian Reformed Church here last week Wednesday afternoon, December 31, for John De Gtoot, who died at his home December 28. He was 75 years old, and had been ill for some time with a heart ailment. Mr. De Groot was born March 22, 1872 at Zeeland, Michigan, and when a young boy moved with his family to Sioux County. He worked first for the Telephone Company, and then for the De Ruyter Hardware company for nearly 30 years. He was preceded in death by wife, who died in 1926. Surviving are his two daughters, Mrs. Paul Veencamp and Gertrude De Groot who was at home with her father. There are three grandchildren. -Sioux County Capital -- 8 Jan 1948
