Daughter of Michael McKenney, living in Kansas in the 1930 census, with her father, Michael, mother, Nettie, sister, Nadine and George Apperson, who was listed as a lodger in the home. June 19, 1928 - April 4, 2007 A. Yvonne Light, of Redmond, died Wednesday. She was 78. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Redmond. A committal service will follow at Redmond Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Light was born June 19, 1928, in Molene, Ill., to George and Nettie (Hale) Apperson. She married Leslie Light on Dec. 10, 1969, in Hood River. Mrs. Light worked as a bookkeeper and was the first woman to work for the Redmond Police Department. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels for many years and founded the St. Vincent de Paul in Redmond. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, and she enjoyed oil painting, gardening and spending time with her dogs. Survivors include her husband; two sons, a daughter, two sisters, Audrey Miller, of St. John, Kan., and Nadine Griffith, of Visalia, Calif.; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Thomas Catholic Church building fund. Redmond Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
