The Eugene Register-Guard Lane County, Oregon Monday, Jan. 21, 2019 Kelly Melinda Plautz March 19, 1957 - January 12, 2019 Kelly Melinda Plautz was born March 19, 1957 and died January 12, 2019 in Snohomish County, Washington while visiting relatives. Kelly was raised in the Redmond, OR area graduating from Redmond High School. In 1975, Kelly moved to Klamath Falls to attend Oregon Institute of Technology. While attending O.I.T., Kelly met the love of her life, John Plautz, and many other lifelong friends. She graduated in 1979 from the Medical Technology program. Kelly and John were married in May of 1982 at St. Jude Catholic Church in Eugene, OR. They lived happily together in Eugene, moving to their forever home in Junction City in the early 1990s. Kelly went to work for Drs. Fitzgibbons and Morich. Later she worked for Oregon Medical Laboratories (which became Peace Health). While working, Kelly again made many dear friends. She recently retired. Kelly was preceded in death by her husband John and her mother and step-father, Yvonne and Les Light. She is survived by her brother Michael, his children Corey and Chelsea, Chelsea?s daughter Penelope, her brother Tim, her father Klair Mendenhall, John?s five nephews, and many special friends. Kelly is also survived by her two cats Nelly and Stuart. Kelly was a kind and gentle soul who made friends easily and kept them forever. The cards she sent were famous. Whether for Christmas, Birthday, or "thinking of you", Kelly always remembered to send just the right card. Kelly loved to travel. She, her sister-in-law Charlene, and friend Terri took a river cruise in Europe, spending extra days in Prague. Whether traveling far or just a road trip to the Oregon Coast, Kelly always made it an adventure. Kelly will be missed by all of us. Services will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019, at St. Helen's Catholic Church, 1350 W 6th Avenue in Junction City. Rosary will begin at 11:30 a.m., Mass at 12:00 p.m., followed by a reception in the Parish Hall.
