Although his tombstone states he was the son of Spencer and Catherine Shelton, Benjamin Franklin Shelton's mother was Catherine Morris Shelton's sister Sarah Ann Morris Shelton. She was the first wife of Spencer Shelton. She died (age 21) 12 days after Benjamin was born.
