As a private under Capt. James Murphy, he served honorably until the end of the war, at Morgan City was discharged, and he remained true to the Confederate States until the surrender, at which time he was in the 4th La. Cavalry as a private. That she was married to the said soldier on July 1859 by Valentine Moss at Vincent Settlement, that her husband died on the 5th day of Jan. 1878 at Vincent Settlement
